Hi everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a really great weekend here in DC and I am ready for another busy week ahead! Let me fill you in on my weekend while I enjoy my purple smoothie!
On Friday, Chris and I met his friends Richard and Reilly at the Laughing Man Tavern for happy hour. It was a pretty neat bar and had a lot of seating, which was nice! They also had a game room area, but we didn’t check it out. After we enjoyed some of their happy hour specials we went our separate ways for the night.
Chris and I came home, shared a caesar salad and a frozen pizza, and watched Up. I LOVED Up! It may have made me tear up a couple times….
On Saturday afternoon, I headed to Maryland for my friend Caley’s bridal shower! Here is the bride-to-be with some of her JMU friends! Caley’s future mother-in-law hosted us and her friend Lindsey (in the white and peach) helped pull everything together and organized the games. The bridal shower was a lot of fun and the food was great!
After the shower I headed back to DC for a busy night. I stopped by our market in the basement and grabbed some frozen Italian meatballs for a quick dinner. I threw them in the oven and served them with some frozen marinara sauce. They were really good!!
Around 8, my friend Jen arrived! Jen was in town to have dinner with her sister and decided to spend the night in DC with me. After hanging out at the apartment for a bit we headed to the Mason Inn in Glover Park.
The Mason Inn was hosting a fundraising event for a girl I went to college with, Annie Leslie (click to learn about Annie’s recovery and to donate!).
After spending some time at the event we headed next door to Town Hall, which was a little more low-key. It was a great night!
On Sunday morning, Chris and I introduced Jen to our favorite bagel spot, Brooklyn Bagel. I went with the sun-dried tomato bagel and light cream cheese. It was amazing, as usual! Jen agreed that they have great bagels!
After breakfast we said our goodbyes. Chris and I watched the team figure skating competition and I was happy to see the US come in third! I was especially excited to see our ice dancers come in first! I’ve been following Meryl and Charlie’s story so it was fun to see them in action.
I spent the afternoon working. A
little later in the day I had some of my mom’s low carb chicken soup, which was great! I love having homemade soup in the freezer when I don’t feel like making anything!
After my run I threw together a light and healthy dinner. My Green Chile Fish Tacos! We haven’t had these in awhile and I forgot how awesome they are! I served them with sautéed onion and peppers and fat-free refried beans. This was definitely a filling and delicious dinner!
After dinner, Chris and I watched the mid-season premiere of the Walking Dead. What did you guys think? I was really starting to get frustrated with Carl! I’m glad he was able to deal with the emotional problems he was having!
I better get to work! I hope you all have a nice week!
