Hi everyone!! Happy New Year!! Sorry that I’m a little late on my 2014 goals — this has been a busy first week back at school! I am taking some really interesting classes this semester though so I am excited about that!! I also turned in the first draft of a major paper I am writing this semester. Needless to say, I am happy that it’s Friday!!
I wanted to talk to you all a little about my goals for this year – specifically running goals! After running the Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon I mentioned that I had a desire to run another half marathon.
I definitely still want to run another half marathon and I am thinking about signing up for the Seashore Classic in Lewes, DE. It is smaller and a lot cheaper than the Rock ‘n’ Roll, which I’m pretty excited about!
One of my complaints about the Rock ‘n’ Roll was how congested the beginning of the race was. My parents also live in the area so they would be able to come watch! I have been contemplating signing up for this race since October and know I would need to start training soon – so keep an eye out for a full post discussing my training plan and goals for that race!
I would also really like to run a marathon this year, which is kinda crazy but also kind of exciting! I’m turning 26 this year, so I feel like 26(.2!) miles in my 26th year makes perfect sense!
I would ideally like to run the Marine Corps Marathon in October mostly because it starts and ends literally in my backyard! I also think it would be awesome to run a race on the roads that I train on multiple times a week, and I would love to participate in such an amazing event that supports the Marine Corps!
The only kink in that plan is that there is a lottery sign up for the marathon this year, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to run it or not. If I can’t, then my back up plan would likely be the Anthem Richmond Marathon. Chris’ brother-in-law ran it last year and it seemed like a really well organized and nice event!
So anyway – that’s where I am right now! What are your goals for 2014?
