Hi everyone!!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are enjoying a well deserved break!! I had a lovely Christmas! It was really nice to spend some time at home with my family. We celebrated nonstop with parties from Saturday through Wednesday night!
As soon as I finished my exams I headed home to help my mom get ready for Christmas. Baking was the first item on our to-do list!
Since I was little, my mom and I have baked cookies every Christmas. We have switched up some of the recipes, but one thing never changes — Cheese Biscuits!! They are my absolute favorite!!
This year we also made two types of fudge, chocolate chip, peanut butter blossoms, and snowflakes!
On Saturday, my mom, dad, and I headed to my Uncle Mike and Aunt Gerry’s house to celebrate. We had a wonderful time talking, eating, and laughing!
My mom and I spent Sunday wrapping presents for the week ahead. Here they are all ready under the tree!
On Monday, we had my mom’s family over for our big Christmas dinner!
We also had green bean casserole, pineapple, and succotash, and broccoli salad; my Aunt Jackie’s sweet potatoes and pretzel salad; and my cousin Carrie’s cucumber salad and potato salad! Don’t worry, all of our “salads” contained plenty of mayo and/or sugar!
We had a lovely evening celebrating with my mom’s family! It is always one of my favorite nights of the year!
On Christmas Eve, we had another party to attend! My mom, Megan (my sister-in-law), and I headed to the nail salon first thing for manicures and pedicures! It felt wonderful after long day of cooking!
After we were gorgeous, we picked up my brother and went to Mrs. Patti’s house for lunch. My mom, Mrs. Patti, and Mrs. Lori have all been friends since their children were little and all of the children went to the same daycare growing up! I was little behind everyone else in daycare, but we always had fun get togethers and shopping dates! Heather (in the front) was also our trusty babysitter from time to time!
Here is our whole group starting from the left in the back: Jen (Mrs. Patti’s daughter), Colleen (Mrs. Lori’s daughter who is expecting a baby in April!!), Megan, Trey, and I. Then in the middle we have Mrs. Lori, Mrs. Patti, and my mom. And last, but certainly not least, Heather, Mrs. Patti’s oldest daughter in the front! Quite a group!!
We had ham, pineapple, rolls, and a really delicious collard green casserole! I went back for seconds on the collard greens!
After our lunch we spent some time with my mommom.
For Christmas Eve dinner, we were supposed to have leftovers, but my mom made two delicious dips that we filled up on instead! We had crab dip and buffalo chicken dip along with some fresh nuts and fruit that my Uncle Tim brought over! We did manage to finish off the leftover oyster pie though!! We watched Christmas Vacation and Home Alone before we headed to bed.
On Christmas morning we unwrapped presents from Santa and then made our traditional Christmas breakfast.
After breakfast, we exchanged gifts with each other and before long we were headed to our final Christmas party!
We headed over to the Beam’s house for Christmas dinner! Lauren and I have been best friends since high school, so it is always fun to spend Christmas night with her family! We had another delicious dinner consisting of beef tenderloin, salad, green bean casserole, broccoli casserole, and mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed cups of the Beam’s famous slushies – the best!
I definitely had a wonderful Christmas and I feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family to celebrate the holidays with! I hope you all had a great Christmas as well and that you have a Happy New Year!
