Weekend Snapshots September 20-22, 2013

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekends! Chris and I had a fun weekend here in DC!

On Friday night, Chris and I went to our friends Reilly and Lizzy’s house for dinner.

Lizzy had a great set up outside! Isn’t her little caddy cute? We snacked on pretzels and hummus while Reilly prepped the grill.

20130922-220527.jpgWe enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and an awesome salad that Lizzy made. I loved the addition of strawberries! It was delicious and I didn’t leave much behind! Thanks for having us over guys!

20130922-220538.jpgOn Saturday morning, Chris had a golf date and I had a date with my law school books. I made Chris a breakfast sandwich with vegetarian sausage patties, an egg, cheese, and mayo all together on Ezekiel toast. He said it was delicious!

20130922-220549.jpgAfter Chris left, I headed out the door to treat myself to some coffee! I’ve never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte, so I decided to see what all the fuss was about! It was pretty good, but definitely is not as delicious as their Peppermint Mocha!! Next time, I’ll get a regular latte and save the specialty drink for Christmas!

20130922-220600.jpgI had worked up an appetite after some reading, so I had a bowl of Fiber One Honey Squares. I love this cereal! It has a great taste and a reasonable calorie count!

20130922-220612.jpgA little later in the day, I had a bowl of vegetable and chicken “soup.” This was really leftover tomato sauce that I made on Thursday for spaghetti. I used two cans of diced tomatoes, a ton of spinach, green and red peppers, and some tomato paste to bulk up our spaghetti sauce. It was delicious on pasta and I really enjoyed it soup style as well!!

20130922-220629.jpgAfter Chris got home from golf he was starving so we heated up a DiGiorno pizza for dinner.

After dinner, we braved the rain and walked up the street to my friend Caley’s apartment. She had a big group of people over and had been to a winery earlier that day (I had to miss out on the winery due to school work). We had a great time playing games and hanging out with everyone! Thanks for having us over, Caley and Robbie!

20130922-220642.jpgOn Sunday morning, I felt like I needed a jolt of health. I made Chris another sandwich per his request, and then I made myself a glorious green smoothie. It was jam packed with spinach, 3/4 cup of Greek yogurt, milk, a frozen banana, and 1 Tbsp. of peanut butter. Yum!!! This filled me up and helped me get my day off to the right start!

I spent the afternoon outlining my readings for the week and watching football with Chris.

20130922-220655.jpgAround 8, Chris and I headed out the door to grab dinner from a new restaurant near our apartment, Tom Yum District. I was really impressed!!! It’s set up like Chipotle, meaning you choose your base (rice or noodles), protein, and toppings. I made mine with brown rice, shrimp, and nearly all the toppings! I finished it off with their “drunken” sauce, which was really spicy! It was touted as their spiciest and it definitely packed a punch! I think next time I might choose a slightly less spicy option. Despite the heat, I really enjoyed this dinner!! The price is right too at only 7.95 for a shrimp bowl (the steak, tofu, and chicken options are slightly cheaper)! I also tried one of their spring rolls – A plus on the spring roll! I’m so excited to have another delicious, fast, and reasonably priced dinner option in the area! If you’re nearby you should stop in and check it out!

After dinner, Chris and I watched Breaking Bad — um what!!!! —- and then we caught a little bit of the Emmys. Another great weekend on the books!

I hope you all haveĀ  a great week!

  1. I love pumpkin coffee from starbucks but the PSL is way too intense! I get a grande coffee with 2 pumps of pumpkin and a little soy milk and it’s perfect!
